BAMSE'S WILDERNESS ADVENTURE - 2 DAYS
BAMSE'S WILDERNESS ADVENTURE - 2 DAYS
Two Days of Adventure, Connection, and Wilderness! This tour offers a unique opportunity to learn dog sledding from scratch while navigating through breathtaking landscapes. But dog sledding is about more than standing behind the sled – it’s also about caring for the dogs, the true heroes of the journey. Actively participating in daily routines, from grooming to feeding, provides a deeper understanding and a truly rewarding experience.
At the end of the day, a cozy cabin in the mountains awaits, where you can relax and reflect on the day’s adventures. This experience blends learning, achievement, and nature, making it perfect for everyone, regardless of prior experience.
Please note: Overnight stay in tents may be necessary if weather or snow conditions require it.
DAY 1:
We begin the morning at the kennel, where you’ll receive a thorough introduction and training for the adventure ahead. Once all gear is packed and ready, you’ll prepare for a true wilderness experience – without electricity, Wi-Fi, or modern conveniences.
We start off in forested terrain with easy conditions, giving you the chance to familiarize yourself with steering and building trust with the dogs. We’ll pass through parts of Langsua National Park, depending on the season and when we set off on the dog sledding journey. By the time we reach the cabin, it may be dusk or dark. Weather conditions will decide whether we stay in a mountain cabin or one down in the valley.
Regardless of the cabin’s location, our first priority is taking care of the dog heroes, ensuring they’re comfortable before we settle in ourselves. Once the dogs are tended to, you’ll enjoy a hearty meal, recharge, and prepare for another incredible day in the mountains.
DAY 2:
After a forfilling breakfast for both the dogs and ourselves, we’ll pack up and begin the journey home, crossing the stunning Synnfjell mountain range.
Back at the kennel, we’ll once again take care of our hard-working dogs. After everything is tidied up and put away, you can either head straight home or take a moment to chat about the adventure over a warm meal by the fire in our lavvu tent.
If you have a long drive ahead, we recommend renting a mountain cabin, as the meeting time could be as early as 9:30 AM. We can help arrange cabin rental for an additional cost, or we can provide recommendations if you’d prefer to handle the booking yourself.
This experience is exclusively for two people!

TIPS FOR DRESSING!
As we say here in Norway; "There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes."
Here are some tips and recommendations on winter clothing to keep you warm on our trips:
1. Inner layer: should be something that breathes, I recommend wool. Do not use cotton!
2. Thicker layers: I recommend wool, but you can also use fleece.
3. Last layer: windproof jacket and trousers, sometimes waterproof too, in mild conditions, but remember that it must be breathable material. Recommend a good hood where it goes in front of the face. Then you get the best protection for your face
4. A thicker jacket is fine to bring, which you can adjust by taking the jacket off and on. Here I use a down jacket, but a padded winter jacket or parka is also fine. This is especially good for the long trips, peak trips, Snaufjellet, overnight trips. A good hood that goes in front of the face is also something to think about as hoods (especially with fur trim) stop the wind from cooling the face. (I have a couple of parkas I can lend!)
5. Wool socks, maybe even two, if the shoes allow it. If it is too tight, it will have the opposite effect. It is important to be able to move your legs, otherwise they will get cold.
6. Good winter boots that are tight and not too tight!
7. Good warm and windproof hat and mittens. Do not wear gloves! I recommend having thin woolen gloves to use inside the mittens or keep it in your pockets, for use when handling the dogs.
8. Wool collar/collar to cover the skin from the weather and wind.
9. Snow goggles, not a must, but I recommend if it's very windy and snowy at the same time.
